Ceramic Circular Kiln
ceramic circular kiln "Obere Fabrik"
The ceramic circular kiln, built in 1839-41, is the only porcelain firing furnace of this size in the whole of Germany. It has an external diameter of 10.3 metres and four tiers, three of them for firing. Originally it replaced four older and smaller kilns with their temperatures of 850-900 degrees. The new kiln reached 1450-1500 degrees; therefore it was possible to manufacture porcelain.
